Review requests

How Qudo asks your customers for reviews, and how to get the best response rate.

A review request is a short, personal text or email that thanks a customer and links them straight to your review page. Timing and personalization are what make them work.

The message

Every request is built from a template with three fill-ins:

PlaceholderBecomes
{{name}}The customer's first name
{{business}}Your business name
{{link}}Your trackable review link

A good default looks like this:

Hi {{name}}, thanks for choosing {{business}}! Would you mind leaving us a quick review? It takes 30 seconds and helps our small business a lot: {{link}} Reply STOP to opt out.

{{link}} doesn't send customers straight to Google — it goes to your business's own public card, where they can choose which platform to leave a review on (Google, plus whichever others you've connected). The first time someone you've messaged lands there, they'll also see a quick, one-time step confirming their name and asking for marketing consent and terms acceptance before continuing — after that it's remembered.

Every click along the way is tracked and tied back to that specific customer and request: the link click, and separately, which platform they chose. That's what powers the click-rate stat and the per-request click count in Requests.

Importing customers

Upload a CSV with these columns — only name is required, but you need phone for texts or email for emails:

name,phone,email,tag
Maria Sanchez,+15551230001,maria@example.com,repair
James Okafor,+15551230002,james@example.com,install

Timing matters

The single biggest lever on response rate is when you ask. Right after the job, while the experience is fresh, beats a request three days later by a wide margin. That's the whole reason automations exist — they fire at the right moment without you remembering.

Staying compliant

Texting rules

US business texting requires carrier registration (A2P 10DLC), which Qudo helps you complete when you connect Twilio. Every text includes an opt-out line, and once someone replies STOP they're marked opted-out and never messaged again.

Never offer payment or a discount in exchange for a review — it violates Google's policies and can get your reviews removed. Ask for honest feedback, not good feedback.
